How We Began
Started with one Maheshwari saree, not a boardroom
Padmora began with Yashi and team's own wardrobe frustration: it was nearly impossible to buy a genuine handloom saree online without wondering if it was really handloom at all. Power-loom imitations sold at handloom prices are common, and most buyers have no way to tell the difference until the saree arrives.
So Yashi and team started walking into the weaving and printing clusters directly — Maheshwar, Ajrakhpur, Paithan, Narayanpet — and building relationships with the families who actually sit at the loom or the printing table. Every saree we list carries the name of the weaver or artisan house behind it, and we say plainly when a technique is handloom, handcrafted, or powerloom. No fabric here is sold as something it isn't.
What Drives Us
Trust first, commerce second
A saree is rarely "just clothing" — it's a wedding trousseau piece, a festival gift, a mother's inheritance to her daughter. Padmora is built around three commitments: honest provenance on every product page, true-to-life photography so colors don't surprise you at your doorstep, and a return window generous enough that you can actually drape the saree before deciding.
We deliberately started small and stayed focused — four crafts, chosen carefully, rather than a thousand SKUs sourced from anywhere. As Padmora grows, we'll only add a new weave or print once Yashi and team have met the artisans behind it in person.
